From now, to the future
About FromScratch
FromScratch brings digital literacy training to teenagers aged 12 to 19 in rural Madagascar. Most of our beneficiaries touch a computer for the first time in our sessions. We're here to make sure that where you grow up doesn't decide whether you get ready for the digital world.
Why the name “FromScratch”
The name isn't a metaphor. It's literal. Our beneficiaries start from scratch — most have never touched a computer before their first session with us. And so did we. FromScratch began with one laptop, no funding, and a handful of people who believed rural teenagers deserved a shot at the digital world. Everything you see on this page grew from that.
- For them: digital knowledge starts at zero. No prior lessons, no computer at home.
- For us: no grant, no office, no equipment budget. Just a personal laptop and people willing to teach.
